Lieutenant General Mohamed Hamdan Daglo (Hemeti), head of the Sudan Founding Government and commander of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), has welcomed the decision by the U.S. Department of State to designate the Muslim Brotherhood in Sudan as a terrorist organization.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Daglo said the decision represents \u201ca victory for the will of the Sudanese people and their aspirations for peace, stability, democracy, and sustainable development.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that the designation is an important step toward drying up the sources of<\/p>\n

extremism and terrorism and toward halting the activities that, according to him, have destabilized Sudan and weakened state institutions, contributing to widespread chaos with regional and international consequences.<\/p>\n

We welcome the decision issued by the United States Department of State designating the Muslim Brotherhood in Sudan as a terrorist organization.<\/p>\n

The decision to designate the Muslim Brotherhood in Sudan as a terrorist organization fundamentally represents a victory for the will of the Sudanese people and their aspirations for peace, stability, democracy, and sustainable development.<\/p>\n

This decision constitutes an essential step toward drying up the sources of extremism and terrorism, and toward halting the activities and practices that have destabilized\u2014and continue to destabilize\u2014Sudan. These actions have directly contributed to the weakening of state institutions and the spread of chaos, with negative repercussions for Sudan\u2019s regional and international environment. The decision also confirms that the Muslim Brotherhood in Sudan represents a serious threat to international peace and security.<\/p>\n

The inclusion of the Muslim Brotherhood on terrorism lists represents recognition of the grave violations and crimes committed by this group and its various fronts, including the ideologically driven \u201carmy,\u201d against civilians across the country over several decades, particularly during the April 15 war that the group ignited, in which internationally prohibited weapons, including chemical weapons and barrel bombs, were used against civilians.<\/p>\n

Isolating extremist ideological currents that view violence as a means to seize power is an indispensable condition for the re-founding of Sudan on new and just foundations and for building a state based on the rule of law and equal citizenship, principles that the Peace Government is working to establish, as reflected in the 2025 Transitional Constitution and in the Charter of the Sudan Founding Alliance.<\/p>\n

This decision also demonstrates the soundness of the approach we adopted when we enacted the Anti-Terrorism Law and banned the Islamic Movement, recognizing it as an organization that threatens national and international peace and security.<\/p>\n

In this context, we emphasize the importance of coordination and cooperation with the international community to pursue the financial and organizational networks of this group, in order to ensure that international platforms are not exploited to threaten the security of the region and destabilize Sudan\u2019s regional neighborhood.<\/p>\n
